Membership terms

Who we are

Music Tech Studio is operated by Mike Lehnert, a Music Technology teacher and examiner. These terms cover membership of the site. Our privacy notice explains how we handle personal data.

What membership is

Membership gives access to the paid areas of Music Tech Studio: learning, revision and assessment tools for Pearson Edexcel A-Level Music Technology Components 3 and 4, including the topic bands, retrieval practice and automated essay feedback. The content is study support. It is updated and improved continually, and no particular exam result is promised or implied.

Personal membership

Personal membership is for one person, paid by card through Stripe at £49 a year. Members joining on the founding offer pay £39 a year, held at £39 for their first two years. It renews each year on your joining date. You can cancel renewal at any time by emailing us; your access then runs to the end of the year you have paid for and no further payment is taken.

School membership

School membership is per centre: every student in the department, one teacher account with the whole-class view, at £299 a year (founding rate £199 a year for departments joining this year, held for the first two years). It is invoiced to the school, one invoice per school year. Nothing renews automatically: renewing is a fresh decision each year, made by paying the next year's invoice.

For school memberships we process student data on the school's behalf under a data processing agreement, which forms part of the membership.

Refunds

Every membership carries a 14-day guarantee. If it is not right for you or your department, email us within 14 days of your membership starting and we refund the full amount, no questions asked.

After 14 days, the year you have paid for runs to its end. For schools that means the annual invoice buys the school year and there are no mid-year refunds; a department that decides not to continue simply does not renew. For personal members, cancelling stops future renewals and access continues to the end of the paid year. None of this affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

Accounts and fair use

A personal membership is for the member alone. A school membership covers the students and nominated teacher of one centre: the teacher account must not be shared beyond the department's nominated teacher, and student links are private to each student.

Everything on the site (text, questions, mark schemes, feedback, interactive tools, diagrams, audio) is our copyright or used with permission. Members may use it for their own study, and member schools may use it in their own classroom teaching. It must not be copied out, republished, scraped, resold or used to build a competing resource. We may end a membership that breaches these terms, refunding any unused time on a pro-rata basis unless the breach is serious.

The service

We work to keep the site available around the clock, but as with any online service we cannot promise uninterrupted access, and short maintenance windows happen. Content and features develop through the year; we may change or replace individual tools, and we will not remove the substance of what a membership was bought for during a paid year. If the service ever closes, remaining paid membership time is refunded pro rata.

Liability

Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law. Beyond that, our total liability connected with a membership is limited to the fees paid for it in the 12 months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect losses, and exam results remain the product of a student's own work.

Changes to these terms

We update this page when the terms change; the date at the top reflects the most recent change. A change during a paid year never reduces what that year's membership already bought. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
